Put No Confidence In Self Or The Flesh - Peace Oseyenum

It is lengthy, YES but I believe it definitely worth the read. Miss Peacy has written another powerful message I believe we can all benefit from, I know I did. She applies submitting all to God to every basic area of our lives and also talks about the importance of totally relying on God. Help us surrender all to you Lord. Amen.
***

Yesterday we tweeted "Put no confidence in self or the flesh"- today we will be elaborating on this. Now when we say "put no confidence in self or the flesh" we are not saying that you should be shy and insecure, rather your security, assurance, reliance, and dependence is totally on God.

We are aware that our salvation isn't the work of man, but by the death and Resurrection of Christ Jesus, therefore we played no part in it, it was simply by the grace of God. Yet we still try to work everything else by ourselves and neglect the grace of God, then after everything has failed blame God for not being with us.

Now we denounce the world, we denounce satan and evil, some of us even denounce sin yet how many times do we denounce ourselves? How many times do we dethrone ourselves from our high horse? We are not our own God so why do we behave in our attitude and actions like we are collaborating with God in this walk? You can't 'partially' rely on God and 'partially' rely on yourself! This walk is a walk of FAITH, and nowhere in the Bible does it say God helps those that help themselves if that was the case why would Jesus need to die, surely he could have just come on earth to do a few miracles then go back to heaven.

What we are trying to emphasis here this season is the Sovereignty of God and how we need to trust this Sovereign God ONLY.

"Put no confidence in self or the flesh"
Concerning your sanctification process and overcoming sin, this is the power of the Cross made manifest in through the Holy Spirit. Its only by the purifying power of the Holy Spirit can that we can overcome sinful habits, stop trying to perfect your actions before aligning your heart. You don't want to be somebody that looks good on the outside but is perishing on the inside as the pharisees did. So let the work be an inward one. Don't be a person that prays God with your lips yet your heart is far away from him, don't be someone who preaches and teaches about God yet yo yourself don't even know him intimately. Many of us need to go back to God with our hearts yielded to him.

Woven

Before the weather decided to be horrible with rain it was actually quite sunny! I'd been sleeping way too much so I had to get outside and enjoy the sun and see some friends before they leave. I decided to wear a dress with these cute shoes I've had for the longest time but I've just never worn them. I titled the post woven cuz my belt, bag and shoes have the same woven basket detail, cute for the summer! Did a little window shopping in town but I'm going to start reading novels again and do a little more reviews here on the blog, depending on how fast I finish these books! But the first on my list is definitely Chimamanda's Americanah :)
Feel free to leave any more suggestions for me in the comments section as well, thanks!

"Yellow Fever... You de bleach!"

For those of you who may not know, the title of this post is from a popular song by Fela Kuti called Yellow Fever, listen to it below. The song is 15 minutes long to get ready to listen to about 7 to 8 minutes of amazing instrumentals and enjoy all his awesomeness.

I'm going on about Fela because I just bought this Mr Garbe shirt that I'm totally crazy about, you really should check them out. There are different personalities on the basic white tees but I chose Fela cuz I'm a lover of music and he's just all sorts of awesome #legend. I love about all his songs especially Water No Get Enemy but I chose Yellow Fever because one of my secondary school teachers always called me that. I'd have thought he meant the actual disease if I didn't know Fela or his music.
Before I forget, happy Children's day to all my Nigerian children out there!

Yo!

Done with exams, so happy!
I've spent yesterday and today sleeping, planning my next move and sleeping some more. Spent sometime catching up on everything I missed on everyone's blogs as well and I follow A LOT of blogs, so that was quite a task. I saw this video of Will & Jaden Smith and thought it was really cool...

Honestly I don't have a lot to say really I'm just really tired and sleepy. Been experiencing some random things as well in terms of friendships and relationships with people but c'est la vie. I know we are all going through different things in life and these things affect our thoughts and actions towards others as well so I really don't want to take things too seriously and act out based on how I feel about it either, two wrongs don't make a right. I feel I'm rambling but these are just my random thoughts at the moment and that's that.
What else is new? My diet is changing and I've been listening to a lot of Asa and Fela, I've also been wearing a lot of black and white so don't be surprised if most outfit posts are different variations of the trend. I'm going to Lagos soon! Can't wait, missing everyone so much! I'm quite upset cuz I missed my big cousin's wedding and I was going to be a bridesmaid... boo hoo (.com) Congrats to her and her hubby! I wish them all the best, She's so beautiful! Excuse the quality of the pictures.

Rosie

Ever heard of Rosie the Riveter
No?
Perhaps you should Google it :)

That wasn't the look I was going for to be honest. But when going through the pictures every one reminded me of it, especially my hair. The hump in the front the scarf and even the denim, all I missed out was doing the actual "We Can Do It!" poster pose, maybe next time.
