Denim Basket

The woven pattern on this waistcoat reminds me of a basket, hence the post title. Especially now that baskets are all over the place with hampers this yuletide season.
One thing I'm surely taking into the new year is my love for a denim outfit.

A Champagne Breakfast

On Saturday, the 21st of November, I attended a mini event at a new Parisian-themed pastry shop called La Brioche with my sisters. You must have seen my post on instagram, a brunch at La Brioche is what Saturdays are made of. The setting is perfect for a date with your girlfriends, especially for a bridal shower event.

Favourites Friday: The Minis

I'm definitely an accessories kind of girl, statement necklace here or a printed scarf there. Sometimes these accessories are what make my outfit or give it that extra something it needs to pull the look together. However, I have a soft spot for bags.

Jeans and a Jacket

This jacket I got from Zara ages ago has to be one of my favourite things. It's thin enough to layer in Nigeria and I love the print & colours as well. Thinking of dressing it down with a simple black maxi dress and just have the jacket make a statement.

TCB at LFDW2015: Go Sleeveless

Just before fashion week started I'd done a sleeveless jacket series, wearing mine in three different ways. It is safe to say I was clearly "in the spirit" as my people would say, you can only imagine my excitement when I saw it on the runway from various designers this year.
The sleeveless blazer/jacket trend was definitely one of the common threads for fashion week this year. Continue reading to see the sleeveless jacket looks from LFDW2015.

TCB at LFWD2015

Hey you! Feels like it's been ages, hope you're well. I've been quite busy this past week but I'm so happy I got to attend LFDW this year and experience it from the other side.
The last time I went for fashion week with Xclamations, I was working back stage for the most part of it managing our show and I didn't really get to enjoy the other shows as well as I'd have wanted to. But this year was totally different, I went everyday after work lol.

Dress It Up

So this is my third outfit in my sleeveless jacket series and this time, I've styled it with a dress. This one is my least favourite of the bunch because I think it almost looks like a lab coat, all I need now are sleeves and I'd be mistaken for a lost med student. But that's just me, what do you think?
To be honest, I wasn't going to post this outfit but then I thought why waste it?

Like A Child - Peace Oseyenum

When a child falls over usually an adult helps the child up because it would be unreasonable for the child to fall over and to stay on the floor for a long period of time.
No matter how painful the bruise is the child simply cannot stay on the ground for hours, days or years.
Taking this a step further, an adult will also usually take time to address the bruise caused by the fall by cleansing it, which may sting then the adult may find something to sooth the pain then finally cover the bruise with a bandage or plaster.
So as an adult when you fall down or fall into a unpleasant situation don't  remain down. Do you know how irrational it is to fall and stay down? Imagine a 5 year old on the floor crying for 4 years non stop about the bruise that happened to them when they were 2 months? Do you know how irrational it is to have a wound but not deal with it? Or even worst to leave it open and carry the pain for years and years?
Just because the pain may not be physical it doesn't give it the right for it to eat at you for years on end.
Don't give a situation the yard stick to determine your life if it is contrary to the word of God.
Man can only help you so far, because man is flawed. But God has no flaw, He is the ultimate healer and deliver. Direct your sores, grazes, bruises and cares onto Him.
Just as you are the child, He is the adult that will cleanse and sanctify you. This may sting but He will heal and comfort you, He will strengthen you. Finally you'll find that the traumatic fall or circumstance followed by His healing won't just be for you but will serve a greater purpose.

***
He is able, He is more than able, to help you up when it seems like you're lost and alone. It is in those times that he carries you. So trust in Him.
BUT, don't remember God only when times are hard, develop that relationship with Him so you can share everything. Love Him with your whole heart, He wants it today.
Have a great week ahead guys! x

Do It Heartily

I've been really busy at work recently, I'm sure you can tell from my blogging. We're currently short-staffed so I had to step up and juggle even more responsibilities. I wasn't happy about it at first but with God's help I've pulled through, I just keep praying my boss hires someone capable soon.

#LadiesInLevis: Levi's New Denim Collection for Women

Levi's launched their new denim collection for women a few weeks ago at Ikeja City Mall. I got the chance to get a feel of their new collection and try on a few pairs as well. I also got a free pair (Thanks Levi's!) and I must say I never want to take them off!
I forgot my camera that day but I did take a few pictures and videos to share with you guys. I'll be doing a post with the jeans really soon but just for a quick review, the jeans are so comfy, fit perfectly and the best thing is I don't even need a belt for it! Most times I have to wear belts cuz of my hip to waist ratio but I don't need them with this pair of Levi's curvy bootcut jeans.
Visit their Facebook page here to stay connected!
I took a few selfies and a video from snapchat with my phone. If you aren't able to watch the video, there are a few pictures as well.

Are You A Dress?

I went out the other day and someone asked where I got the dress I wore in my Casual Blue ootd post. Then I realized I missed an opportunity to follow-up on a post I did titled Are You A Jumpsuit?
It's all an illusion, there's no jumpsuit and there's no dress lol.
Camisole : New Look
Trousers, skirt and silver sandals: Zara
I'm wearing the same silver sandals with both outfits, so I guess the only difference between both looks are the prints.
True to form, I added a little print to break up the monochrome look; with an aso-oke bag and a striped hat.
One must understand the power of accessories. I think aside from the way you put your outfit together, accessories really help you translate fashion into style. It sets you apart from everyone else and this picture is a clear example of that fact.
Click to see more pictures of these outfits, Are You A Jumpsuit? & Casual Blue.

So what do you think?
Which outfit is your fave and where would you wear it to?
Leave me an answer in the comments section!! x

Priorities - Peace Oseyenum

Source
"Sometimes we can get stuck seeking provision first, instead of seeking our Provider.
Sometimes we can get stuck seeking out approval or affirmation from people, instead of going to God first and experiencing His love.
Other times we'll see our value in our accomplishments instead of seeing that God created us with value, even before we ever did anything to deserve it.
Our value is built upon His love for us.
We can so easily sell out and miss our purpose by seeking other things before God's will in our lives. What is He doing? What is He saying? Jesus said He only did what He saw the Father doing - nothing more, nothing less. (John 5:19)
Are we seeking God's kingdom first? (Matt 6:33), Are we putting His purposes first before seeking out provision?
God will make sure our needs are met when we put His kingdom first."

Favourites Friday: Hair Oils

For my natural hair, I try to use as many natural hair products as possible, these include a wide range of oils. My usual oil mix consists of Coconut, Castor, Olive, Jojoba, Almond oils and Shea Butter. It might sound like a lot but this is what I use and it works for ME. These oils each have their star qualities that make them my go-to oils for my hair oil mix and I'll be sharing some of them with you in this post.

Coconut Oil: (My favourite) Great protectant for hair and skin. It's very penetrative and light weight, it softens and conditions my hair. It's also great for pre-wash conditioning, aka pre-poo. It also mimics Sebum but it's not as close as Jojoba oil.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil: THIS! Stimulates growth. Although it's quite thick, I mix it with other oils and it makes my hair soft.
Source
Olive Oil: This oil is also penetrative and contains fatty acids and vitamin E which are great for healthier hair. It also moisturizes and is a great pre-poo oil as well.

Shea Butter: One of the first oils I started using, I used it for everything and I still include it in my oil mix today. It also makes my hair soft and it's great for sealing in moisture. It also contains sufficient SPF to protect your hair from UVS.

Jojoba Oil: This oil is great for your scalp because it's closest to the natural oils that our hair produces called Sebum. This means it is easily absorbed into your scalp and is great for treating numerous scalp issues.

Tea Tree Oil & Eucalyptus Oil: Both have anti bacterial and anti fungal properties. Eucalyptus promotes ceramide production so it increases elasticity as well. Tea Tree stimulates the scalp and this can also promote hair growth.

Almond Oil: This oil has a lot of fats that are great for fighting dry, brittle hair.

Oils I haven't used but would like to try are Argan oil, Grapeseed oil, Pomegranate seed oil, Avocado oil and a bunch of others but let me know, what are some of your favourite oils to use and why?

I don't claim to know all about the oils I've listed and I definitely haven't listed all their benefits either so it would pay you to do some of your own research as well and find out what works for you.
