Where's your Happy Place?

"My point? No matter how bad things get, and no matter how hard and tough it looks like it’s going to get, we have to find that one thing that keeps us happy and alive. Think about a happy place, real or imagined, and hold on to it."
Got that from here
Feel free to read it but your Happy Place is basically somewhere you go either real or imagined that takes you away from the harsh realities of life for just a few. A place for you to chill and get your sanity back. Kinda like a mini holiday destination cuz let's be honest life really drives us crazy and sometimes we just need to get away.
I've got a lot of happy places simply because they keep me alive and happiness is actually really important to me. Remember the post I did on Negativity? It's all part of it cuz we all need positive energy around us. I'm happiest when I'm with my family, listening to music, night out with family or friends, SLEEPING!, laughing, when I'm in Lagos, I love Lagos. I'm easily amused so I laugh a lot and I'm happy when I'm laughing and thats's one reason why I like the saying "never regret anything that made you smile" or laugh or happy because at least for that moment you felt happiness. x

Red

Hey! I'm doing pretty good right? 3rd day in a row even though it's all just scheduled Lol. Hope everyone is well! This is an old outfit of the day post from the library, where I have been spending most of my time wisely. Background/scenery isn't that great but that has never really been one of my strengths either. I'll try to put in more effort in that aspect I've already made progress with my camera so little by little. I have a wig on here, it just seemed fast and easy to do that and tie a turban with my scarf. If you want to know how, there are a lot of tutorials on youtube I'm sure are easy to follow and learn from. It's another staple style for me on bad hair days. Hope you like the pictures. x

So we all went out and had a little girls night out which was fun, it's always nice to have a little bants in the midst of all the uni stress. Get ready to be hungry guys! I'm going to cut the post cuz the pictures are quite a lot. x

Busy Bee!

Let's catch up guys, forgive me for the impromptu hiatus but there's a good explanation for it. I'm leaving for Lagos a week early so I need to finish all my deadlines ASAP.  I also had a presentation as well and that went well thank God, I thought I was going to mess it up and mix up my words but It actually went better than I expected. So yes I've been busy but I promise to improve I really miss blogging. Don't forget to follow the blog guys and leave comments as well...

Before I go let me leave you with a few things I've watched and enjoyed recently.
Every Kanye Sample Ever
I used to be a die hard Kanye fan but not so much anymore but this just reminded me of what a genius he is.

Real Story Of Nigeria
An insight into the history of the great country of Nigeria... I loved it. My fave part? "I'm A Hustla", look out for that part if you watch it. Loved the Fela parts as well, forever a fan!

Hope you're all fine and having a good week so far!

P.S: Guess who bought a new camera? x

Vanity

I saw this on my friends facebook page today. I don't know if he wrote it himself but I thought I'd share.

"I recall a friend telling me about a man in his neighborhood who became popular for engaging in money rituals just to buy the 80's edition of the Honda Prelude. You wouldn't buy that car for 50k today.
I remember as a kid, my whole street converged to watch a truck deliverd a very large satellite dish to my neighbor's house. Today a dish one tenth that size delivers 5 times the value and is in almost every student's hostel room.
What about the Volkswagen Santana, Mercedes Benz V booth, 505 cocaine, all overtaken by Camry,Honda discussions and Infinity? .... Vanity.

Tacos Locos

So last week we went to tacos locos for dinner after a long day in the library. I'm wearing the same thing from yesterdays post so this is a continuation really.
As you can see it was clearly a struggle to get that hat to fit on my head with my hair! Lol

Rest Of My Life - Ludacris ft Usher & David Guetta

David Guetta kills it everytime! He's what I call a "Headbussa" as in Head Burster lol. When I'm on my David Guetta playlist and my headphones are on my head might just burst! No not literally but you get what I mean. The last time Usher and Ludacris did songs together I remember loving them. Remember Yeah and Lovers and Friends (My Jam!) which both had the retard we all know as Lil Jon features as well but yh they were great regardless and Ludacris is definitely one of my fave rappers... appart from the fact that I've had a crush on his siiiiiiince *clicks fingers* lol (him and a few others, I should do a post on that, interesting).

Ok enough music/boy talk... Let's get on with today's OOTD taken in the library again.

Twist-Out Gone Wrong

After washing my hair with all the new products I bought, I detangled and twisted it with the mist and a bit of leave in conditioner and when I woke the next morning to unravel my twist (for the twist out style incase  you aren't natural) THE TWISTS WERE DAMP! It was a disaster! I was so excited to rock my hair after keeping it in those twists for so long and then this happens, monday morning, 9am seminar... the worst! Thank God I woke up earlier than usual so I was able to fix the mess kmt. Ended up doing an up do.

Wildest Dreams - Brandy

Hey guys! Just like this post, most of the pictures I'll be uploading were taken in the library. They don't look too nice but hey! Gotta get work done and have blog content as well. The library is really big so I try to use different corners so the pictures don't look too boring. This was during reading week and my hair was in twists so I just used a scarf for a quick style and it always works for me. It's my solution to all bad hair days including a high bun.

Random Updates: TWA?

What do you think? Yay or Nay?

I think I might cuz my hair again, I miss my TWA days. I mean the length is great and everything but it also comes with added stress like more time washing, detangling and all those KNOTS! Argh!
Don't get me wrong I loooooove my natural hair, I doubt I'd relax it any time soon but my hair grows really fast and I'm beginning to resent all the length I have now and this really shouldn't be the case cuz I love my hair! But only when it's detangled and styled, this is so hard.
Have any of you naturals out there had the same issue/dilemma? Any thoughts? Please share! x

*TWA meaning tini wini afro aka really low afro

Doodling in Class... smh Eki!

Hey guys hope you're all well.
The 2013 cruise lookbook series is finally over. Some may have enjoyed it and others hated it *shrug* OK! But I need content and that's what happens when there is scarcity! In other news, I make so many typos on this blog you would think I've never been schooled. If I had a pound for every error I'd be on a shopping spree rather than writing this post.
But that's not why we're here... The Weekend is here! What have you got planned? I've had a good week it was quite productive so thank God for that, how was yours? I went through some old lecture notes from second year and found some doodling! Lol... I'm not really good at drawing faces, only started practicing recently with a little improvement but I guess I was practicing drawing a realistic eye? smh. That was my failed attempt at explaining why I was drawing that instead of listening to the boring lecturer.

Throwback Thursday

These pictures were taken during reading week in the library just before I took out my twists, they still looked so nice! I was reluctant to take them out but my natural hair needed attention and the twists were in for way too long. This day was really boring we just took pictures to entertain ourselves lol after lunch of course, man must chop. Here's a pic of what I had, yummaaaay!! Healthy eaters inc. :)

British Curlies Order & Review

Remember me saying I ordered some natural hair products cuz I was thinking of taking out my twists? I got them and I've used them and they were pretty good for my first try the only thing I don't like is the thickening moisture mist cuz it doesn't dry over night! I tried it on a twist out after washing my hair and I woke up with the worst twist out in all the 2 years of my being natural, like ever! Had to do an updo to cover up the mess (I'll show you that in another post) and I ended up being late for the programme I was going to that day smh.
Well the shampoo and conditioner are both lovely, the shampoo doesn't strip my hait and leave it dry. The conditioner was great for detangling as well and the both smell ok. I used the deep treatment masque for deep conditioning it was really good and it smells ok. To be honest I've smelt better things but hey it's not like they have a disgusting smell it's just OK.
The 100% organic shea butter... Now THAT is a product! Smells great, wonderful ingredients and its really nice on my hair as well, I LOVE IT! I even found myself using it on my hands, yes it is that nice!
The give free samples with every order so that's what the little white bottle with hibiscus written on it is.It's a mizture of oils are it's really nice and smell amazing. Successful marketing strategy because I used it for my twist-out-gone-wrong-turned-into-an-updo style and I liked it a lot. If I keep using it I just might get a bigger bottle depending on the price.

If you have anymore questions you can look for other reviews on youtube or ask me in the comments section... cuz I don't think I did a really good job with this review lol. x

Obviously I wore tights cuz it's freezing and I wore a coat on it, layering is essential.
Remember the skirt from this post Tomboy Chic? It's actually a dress, but I refer wearing it as a skirt and that's the same thing I did here

Boucle jacket from Zara, shoes from Dune, studded top from Zara, skirt from forever 21(old).

Please pay no attention to that part of my hand craving some lotion lol, but I had to use this picture so you could see the colour of the outfit clearly. As I don't have a very goo camera my phone didn't really pick up the colours and the pictures were taken at night which made it worse. Enjoy still! :)

Halloween 2012 Part 2

The Flapper Girl! :)

On this day I went out with Mirabel (evil cat), Wummerz (pregnant dora the explorer LOL), Kate (mini mouse) and Monica who really didn't bother to dress as anything. It was so crowded!!! The last time we went to a club in town when I dressed as a devil but this night we went to a club ON CAMPUS and the queue was crazy I even lost my hair net but I found it later. Mico got her hair pulled and a guy got his pants unbuckled and unziped! All in One bloody queue! It was real. Once again this post is photo heavy, enjoy the rest of the photos... x

Reading week & Hair

 :) OOTD post coming soon!*

Finally my reading week is here! So I can take time to chill and catch up on work I might take out my twists as well but I want to wait till I have shampoo and conditioner. Incase you didn't know I'm natural so expect a post with my 3 years length check :) Can't wait!
I went on this site called British Curlies and that's where I get all my natural hair products and tools when I don't go to an actual black hair shop to buy them.
They are really good, have a lot of products from America that aren't available in the UK and the pricing is reasonable as well.
I was going to try Carol's Daughter products but unfortunately they don't have it (disappointing) so I decided to go for Shea Moisture.
I went on youtube to watch some reviews and people have some nice things to say about it so I'm gona try that out and do a review :) so look out for that. It's definitely my first time using the product so my washing routine in going to change. Keep reading to find out about my old routine.

I finally ordered new markers from Cowling and Wilcox. ANYBODY looking to buy new art supplies please go to their website, they give amazing discounts and I saved a lot of money buying from them. Well they're here!!!

So this is how I've chosen to keep them, no money to buy the proper container that letraset makes so I put them in an old persil gel capsule container :)

Remember My Girls I showed you Here ? Well, I'm going to start colouring them soon so stay tuned. Thinking of using the finished for my header, right behind the blog title "the chameleon blogger"... What do you think? Let me know please. After that's sorted maybe I just might make the blog public lol duno. x

"What is Unseen is Eternal"

2 Corinthians 4:17-18

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Hey guys! I know I didn't blog today but I thought I'd just leave you with a little something, I came across that today and thought I'd share. I went out with my husband and the canterbury clique yesterday and it was fun! I'm so tired! First time I've actually done anything for halloween and I didn't look to bad. I will do a proper post on it later but yh like I said it was fun, the most fun I've had on a night out in canterbury in a while cuz things always dull here like its almost like a curse. Maybe it's me cuz I don't go out often and when I do go out I pick shitty nights *shruggs* duno but last night was fun! (I've said that like 3 times now lol).

Tea, Studs & Spikes

Hey! Hope everyone had a great weekend mine was ok did a bit of work and play.

I went out with my canterbury husband Mirabel aka Mira Mico Mimi Mama etc lol and we took these pictures way before the weather became rubbish. We had a little posh english moment at the coffee shop with the tea, gisting about everything and reading magazines and all that... Good times!
One of my course mates asked me to be her stylist and help her shop for a new workwear wardrobe. She has never liked the business/corporate look on women but she's now accepted the fact that she'll need it after uni and asked me to help her. I was shocked because I've actually never done anything like that but she washed me and said she likes me style and all that so I decided to help her, no fee of course. Luckily for me my Elle magazine came with a pull out for workwear so that should help.

Btw... This post is photo heavy! :)

Felabration!

Fela Anikulapo-Kuti is a Legend. I don't even know where to start we all know how amazing his music is and how much he influenced Music today both in Africa and the rest of the world. Felabration is an annual festival that goes on for about a week in Lagos celebrating all things Fela. This year Asa performed and I absolutely LOVE her and her performance was amazing, it's obvious that she's loved by everyone!

I LOVE Mos Def (Yasiin Bey) as well and I cam across this video of him performing "Water No Get Enemy" on of Fela's popular hits. I loved the fact that one of my fave rappers went in on one of my fave Fela songs, he even spoke the pijin! Watch that video here  I never knew there was a shrine in Chicago they had the dancers as well, Fela was popular for his booty shaking dancers lol. I'd like to go there one day... After I've gone to the one in Lagos sha.
Hope you enjoyed the videos as much as I did!

The Print and Colour Lover contd.

Picking up from where I left off last time, right now I'm in the process of researching inspiration for prints to be included in my portfolio.
Basically just finding a focus and showing my thought process and manipulation a on this particular thing till I arrive at something suitable or something I think represents me and my brand and is worthy to be included into the portfolio. Then I will continue to brain storm, create designs and apply them both to produce a master piece, BGG.
Yes I must say BGG after everything because I believe in working in faith and besides, if I want to achieve any feat in this world, it is not by my power but by the Spirit of The Lord! "Girl you better preach! Mhmm!". Lol

Random Updates : New book & New Music

When I finished Redeeming  Love and gave my mum amazing feed back, she handed me yet another book! A Lineage of Grace by Francine Rivers as well. I can already tell I'm going to love the book because she's such an amazing writer, she takes bible stories and brings them to (modern) life.
Five unlikely women who changed eternity, five women whom God chose.

I'm quite a slow reader but I'll definitely do another review on it when I'm through. I'm loving the fact that I've become a reader again cuz I stopped for a while.

Another new new that I'm loving in terms of music is Shakka google the dude! I'm just gona leave you with the 1st song of his that I heard and fell in love with and he's quite cute too!! It was a youtubers background music, I think it was lizlizlive (you should check her out). Enjoy.
