Book review: Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.

This book was originally my mum's and it's been passed around my family for a few years now, almost like an emblem. Well I read it this summer and fell in love with it and I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a good Christian book on God's unfailing love for us, His children. Yes it is a Christian book but the story is very romantic, it's based on the story of Hosea in the Bible. If you aren't familiar with him the maybe you really should read the book, it's a great way to update yourself on the story of Hosea while learning a valuable lesson on God's love. Find the description and my personal thoughts on the book after the cut.

Description

California’s gold country, 1850. A time when men sold their souls for a bag of gold and women sold their bodies for a place to sleep.  Angel expects nothing from men but betrayal. Sold into prostitution as a child, she survives by keeping her hatred alive. And what she hates most are the men who use her, leaving her empty and dead inside. Then she meets Michael Hosea. A man who seeks his Father’s heart in everything, Michael Hosea obeys God’s call to marry Angel and to love her unconditionally. Slowly, day by day, he defies Angel’s every bitter expectation until, despite her resistance her frozen heart begins to thaw. But with her unexpected softening come overwhelming feelings of unworthiness and fear. And so Angel runs. Back to the darkness, away from her husband’s pursuing love, terrified of the truth she can no longer deny: Her final healing must come from the One who loves her even more than Michael Hosea does…the One who will never let her go.  A life-changing story of God’s unconditional, redemptive, all-consuming love. Over 1 million copies sold!

Got that from the website for the book, and it pretty much sums it up.
Personally, I love love and the whole idea behind it. Finding someone that fits you like a glove or as the bible describes it, I am someone's missing rib! And in the book Francine Rivers tells the love story oh so well, I kept wishing and day dreaming till the day I meet someone who loves me the way Hosea loves Angel, the way God intends it to be. It would be amazing to feel that kind of love but still, the love of God surpasses all and we are privileged to be loved by him when all he asks for is our love in return and all of it. It made me see my Christian relationship in a totally different way and helped me strive to develop a deeper relationship with God where I can talk to him like a friend and learn to depend on him in all things. It put the hunger in me and once the hunger to do something is there, I believe you are on the right track. It's a good book it really is!
